NSW Police Force Dog Unit

The NSW Police Force Dog and Mounted Command is responsible for providing a support service for all operational Police across NSW. The canine resource is available to be deployed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Dog unit which forms part of this policing command was formed in 1932 and started with a General-Purpose dog capability. Over the years the NSW Police Force has increased capabilities that the Dog Unit offer to include drug detection, firearms and explosives detection, searches for human remains, searching of crime scenes and Urban Search and Rescue.
