The Blacktown Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC) in Glendenning provides shelter for 135 dogs and 230 cats for several Sydney councils covering a wide geographic area. The Centre is also a place for the community to visit and adopt animals.

BARC, which opened in May 2023, is the first state-of-the-art, custom-built animal rehoming centre in Australia and provides services not previously offered by traditional animal ‘pounds’.

The Centre includes a large reception and adoption area, vet facilities for animals in the Centre’s care, kennels, catteries, designated exercise yards. It also has staff rooms and a function space.
