The three variations of this dog, the Brussels Griffon (Griffon bruxellois)<\/strong>, the Belgian Griffon (Griffon belge)<\/strong>, and the Petit Braban\u00e7on<\/strong>, all descend from an old\u00a0type\u00a0of dog called a\u00a0Smousje. <\/strong>A rough coated, small terrier-like dog kept in stables to eliminate rodents.<\/p>\n

By the end of the Second World War, Belgium had almost no native Griffon Bruxellois left. It was only through the vigilance of dedicated breeders that the breed survived at all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
